Your Family Pet and Home Sitter
Providing tender care for stay-at-home pets
About Me
I grew up on dairy farm in a small mountain community. While I milked cows and raised calves at large dairy farms to earn my way through college, I admired the diverse skills of dairy farmers. Continuing that tradition, I worked at many occupations, ever expanding my learning.
My self-employment experience includes a cleaning service, childcare, marine electrical, and organic/permaculture gardening. These developed in me a caring attitude of professional service which I offer to you and your pets.
My first two years of college I studied pre-veterinary medicine. However, after working closely with farm veterinarians, I decided to focus on animal health, not illness. I described my techniques for raising dairy heifers in a Hoard's Dairyman article, and as a speaker at a regional dairy convention.
Since then, I've cared for over 200 pets, with many return visits, for more than 40 families. With my children grown and on their own, I maintain a simple meditative lifestyle with no pets of my own so that I can give your pets and home my undivided attention.
My first pet sit, in October 2006, was overnights with a semi-feral cat who was adjusting to indoor life in a luxury apartment. He pounced on my foot whenever I stepped near his food dish, and leaped against the glass door if a squirrel ventured onto the patio. After a few play sessions, however, he settled down to purr on my lap.
Helping create an environment where all living beings can thrive.
